Eat Healthy

If you have visited Border Grill, you undoubtedly know we work hard to offer you quick, affordable healthy options throughout our menu. We wanted to give you some additional suggestions to ensure that we fit into your healthy lifestyle.

  • Our Healthy Dining Guide lists all the items on our menu that contain 650 calories or less. This is a quick way to identify the menu items that are a good starting point to a healthy choice.
  • Just Right portions. We offer the majority of our menu items in a Just Right size, which are about 75% of the size of our Original size items. This simple choice brings down the portion without sacrificing the great taste of Border Grill. Oh, and as a bonus, they are less expensive too!
  • Modify, Modify, Modify. To borrow an old line from another restaurant that was used years ago, “Have it your way.” And as long as we’re “borrowing”, I will keep going… “Special orders don’t upset us.” I love to see modifications because it means my guests are getting their meal exactly the way they want it!

Here are a few suggestions to lighten things up:

  • Delete sour cream in your item if it comes with it, or even better… substitute non-fat sour cream. Yes – we have that in all our restaurants!
  • Go meatless once in a while. Black beans are a great substitute for our chicken or steak (not that they aren’t yummy… grilled chicken breast and USDA Choice Top Sirloin). And once again, you can save some money because we will adjust the price if you do that. Try getting that at most other restaurants! A Dan tip… a no meat Grande Burrito is fantastic!
  • Try a Caesar Salad with our Salsa Blanca instead of Caesar Dressing. We make the Salsa Blanca ourselves with low-fat mayo and non-fat yogurt. It has great flavor and has about 1/3 the calories and fat as the dressing.
  • Substitute a side item for chips. I know, I know, we all crave our chips! We do cook them in Canola oil but they are healthier than most, and you are welcome to substitute them for a small side like Black Beans, Mexican Rice or our fantastic Black Bean & Roasted Corn Salsa.

Thanks to all of you for making Border Grill a part of your lifestyle. As you work towards making better decisions about eating, I hope these suggestions help you to remember that we can still be a part of your good nutrition.

See you soon!
Dan Torres
